A report released today by the incoming White House attorney found the President-elect had no contact with Gov. Blagojevich or any of his staff about the Senate seat he left to take over as President.
The report did find incoming chief of staff Rahm Emanuel had conversations with Blagojevich’s chief of staff about the seat. However, it found there was never any discussion about any quid-pro-quo for the seat.
The report is important because of lingering questions surrounding Emanuel and what part he might have had in the pay-for-play scandal. Critics though could point to the curious timing the report is released, since the President-elect is vacationing in Hawaii, and his aides say he does not plan to comment. It’s also worth noting an attorney Obama appointed conducted the review.
Blagojevich mantains he did nothing wrong.
